SME1300 INFANT AND PEDIATRIC MASSAGE

This course provides an introduction to infant and pediatric massage therapy. Students will learn the basics of how massage therapy is used and adapted during the growth and development in children, starting with micro preemie through adolescence, as well as gain an understanding of many common conditions you will see in a generally healthy infants and pediatric population. We will discuss how massage therapy is being used today in many settings and how massage impacts the child and the family. We stress the importance ofresearch with infant/pediatric massage in cultivating an evidence informed practice, and identify regulations and guidelines for working safely and appropriately with these populations in a massage practice. Pre-requisite: Relaxation Massage 2
