Academic Policies
Policies in Maintaining Good and Acceptable Academic Standing
Every student is responsible for current knowledge of his or her own academic standing and progress in each course and throughout clinical training. Faculty will make every effort to enter grades within 48 hours and provide feedback (when applicable) to assignments, activities, proficiencies, test, etc. Students are responsible for obtaining further information about grades achieved on assignments, examinations, projects and competencies throughout their education. Each student is responsible for initiating a meeting with a course instructor, advisor, clinical supervisor or program officials when there are questions or concerns about the fulfillment of course or clinical requirements. Faculty may also do so as needed. If a student needs additional assistance with course material, tutoring may be made available to assist the student.
Speaking and writing professionally are essential skills for radiologic science professionals. Therefore, all required research papers and presentations will be assessed for correct spelling, grammar and authenticity. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. The programs implement APA style of writing. Use proper grammar and punctuation when composing emails along with professional language and official titles.
Radiologic Technology professionals must demonstrate professionalism and ability in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains. Evaluations are conducted and discussed with students during the didactic and clinical portions of the program. Professionalism includes, but not limited to the following:
- Be courteous and respectful to others.
- Display a professional attitude by dressing in a conservative, non-revealing manner. Show self-respect in using cosmetics and appropriate attire.
- Attend all classes on time and come prepared. Notify instructors if you are unable to come to class.
- Do not make displays of hostility, physical aggressiveness, threatening gestures or comments, harassment, insubordination, disrespectful arguing with peers and faculty/staff. *This applies to social networking sites as well.
Violations of any of the above may result in referral to the Behavioral Standards Committee. Please see student conduct section of the university student handbook for more information.
Academic honesty and integrity are highly valued in the Northwestern campus community. Academic honesty directly concerns ethical behaviors that affect both the academic environment and the civic community. Academic dishonesty seriously violates the integrity of the academic enterprise and will not be tolerated.
The behaviors considered a violation of the Standards of Academic Conduct constitute misconduct for which students may be sanctioned. Please refer to the university student handbook for more information.
