Master of Health Science in Functional and Integrative Nutrition

The program provide practical application and experiential courses, where students develop the vital skills in client-centered, evidence-based, and personalized care in the functional and integrative nutrition field. The program also prepares graduates to evaluate research, medical technologies, behavioral design and business principles to be leaders and innovators in the fields of wellness. 

As part of the integrative medicine approach to care, the program will enable students to become a certified health coach and satisfies the coursework requirements for additional sought-after nutrition certifications.

Admissions requirements

o   2.75 GPA with consideration for those 2.5-2.74

 

Completion of the following courses (UG-level or above) with a cumulative GPA of 2.75:

  1. Biochemistry or Biology
  2. Organic Chemistry
  3. Statistics
  4. Human Physiology or Anatomy/Physiology
  5. Introductory Nutrition Course

 

 

Master of Health Science in Functional and Integrative Nutrition

The curriculum of the Nutrition program and graduate-level certificates are scientifically rigorous and forward-thinking in functional and personalized medicine. The program is 100% online. While delivered via distance education, the program will also provide opportunities for in-depth field experiences that are critical aspects of modern healthcare.

Each course in the program is designed with an interdisciplinary, competency-based curriculum, and innovative lens that prepares graduates to connect and solve for challenges in fields of: personalized healthcare, research, medical technology, the business of healthcare, human behavior, diversity and inclusivity.

MHS in Functional and Integrative Program Requirements:

The following 9 courses the Capstone course are required for the Master’s program.  Students need to complete 3 additional elective courses (9 credits) to complete the Master’s program. 

NUTR 6000 Advanced Nutrition Practice: Macro + Micronutrients (3 credits)

NUTR 6005 Foundations of Integrative and Functional Nutrition (3 credits) 

NUTR 6020 Advanced Practice: Supplements, Herbs, and Pharmaceuticals (3 credits)

This stand-alone graduate certificate consists of the following 4 courses.
