RTH-2135 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES 1

This course will provide an overview of the immune system and its role in   fighting diseases, including cancer.  The pathology of neoplasms will be discussed, including their cause, diagnosis, and how to differentiate between benign and malignant neoplasms.  Cancers of the skin, bones, soft tissues, endocrine system, lymphoreticular system, leukemia, and pediatric malignancies will be discussed in regards to their etiology, epidemiology, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.  The radiation therapist’s responsibilities of education, assessment, and communication in the management of these cancers will be presented and discussed.
