MEDA-1101 INTRODUCTION TO THE MEDICAL ASSISTING PROGRAM

This orientation course is designed to acclimate the student into the college atmosphere and into the Medical Assisting Program.  Students will receive basic instruction necessary for success in the program: program and university policies and resources, confidentiality and HIPAA, basic fundamental terminology, study skills, interpersonal skills, AAMA certification and career building.  Students will also receive orientation and training into the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system used in the Medical Assisting program.  Emphasis is placed on the importance of professionalism in the classroom, lab, and clinic settings.  The course is recommended for the first semester.
