HUM-1200 SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH

Social determinants of health (SDoH) are the social, economic, and environmental circumstances that influence people’s health and well-being. This course will provide learners: 1) a background on SDoH and their impact on health outcomes; 2) a review of current SDoH frameworks and their limitations; 3) an opportunity to examine current research on SDoH; and 4) resources describing policies and evidence-based strategies that address SDoH and advance health equity. This course will include discussions and short projects that help learners identify and reflect upon social determinants of health and their impact on health outcomes. This course is considered a Humanities General Education course.
