INCR-6115 COMMUNITY PRACTICUM IN HEALTH AND WELLNESS COACHING

This course matches students with a population of community-based individuals who are interested in receiving virtual, synchronous, individual integrative health and wellness coaching services. Students will complete at least 50 sessions of 30 minutes or more in length and pass a quantitative skills assessment. Completing these qualifications will make the student eligible to sit for the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching exam. Ideally, some of these sessions will be recurrent with any particular individual (e.g. 2-6 sessions) allowing students to gain some longitudinal experiences with selected clients. Through this experience, the students will explore and share how the principles of health coaching can benefit the health and wellness of families, communities, teams, organizations, and schools. Using an asset-based approach, learners will consider how to define and leverage existing community resources, expand professional networks, and communicate professionally about this new, evolving field. Due to the nature of client-work and the importance of care-continuity over a significant length of time, this course will be spread over the full 15-week term.
