Master of Health Science in Integrative Care
Curriculum Overview
The Master of Health Science in Integrative Care curriculum was designed by national subject matter experts from across the healthcare spectrum to be informed by the past and present, focusing on whole person-centered integrative care. While delivered via distance education, the program will also provide opportunities for practical, individualized projects to tackle the challenges of today’s healthcare world.
Each course in the program is designed with an interdisciplinary, competency-based curriculum and innovative lens that prepares graduates to connect and solve challenges in the healthcare industry. Holistically, our program provides practical application and experiential courses where students develop vital skills in client-centered, evidence-based, and personalized care in the integrative care field. Our program also prepares graduates to evaluate research, medical technologies, clinical design, and business principles to be leaders and innovators in the fields of wellness.
This program is conveniently packaged in seven-week intensive courses, culminating in a 15-week capstone project. Students have the flexibility to complete the program in one year full-time or select a part-time schedule. All courses are asynchronous except for three health coaching courses requiring synchronous components.
Students must complete 15 core credits, as well as 15 elective credits in one of four areas of specialization:
Specialization 1: Trauma Informed Integrative Care
This specialization is built for practitioners, educators, and others who want to better understand how psychological trauma affects people both mentally and physically. You’ll learn to adopt a trauma informed approach and explore relevant topics such as the impact of culture and socioeconomic aspects on health, trauma and addiction, and the mind-body connection.
Specialization 2: Integrative Health and Wellbeing Coaching
This specialization prepares you to enter the growing field of health coaching. You’ll learn to support clients in making integrative lifestyle changes and living healthier lives. Our curriculum is a National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) approved training program, and completers are eligible to sit for the board exam to become an NBC-HWC certified health coach.
Specialization 3: Integrative Healthcare Administration
This specialization gives practitioners and administrators the skills and knowledge needed to be leaders in the healthcare industry. Learn how to communicate your ideas, gain support within your organization, and ultimately transform healthcare.
Specialization 4: General Studies in Integrative Care
This specialization allows students an individualized pathway to program completion by choosing five courses of interest from any specialization option listed above.
