Certification Examination

Preparation:
There are preparation review books, CD’s available.  You will also receive a practice exam from the AAMA upon your registration for the examination.

Applications:
Students will receive application information and mock certification exam materials during Medical Assisting III. 

Fees:
If you are a completing CAAHEP student or recent graduate, the fee is $125.00 when you apply for examination.

Taking the Exam:

• Examinations are taken at a local Prometric testing center. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make the appointment.

• The exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions.

Passing the Exam:
A pass/fail notification will be provided to you immediately upon your completion of the exam.

Failure:
If a student fails the Certified Medical Assistant exam, it is the responsibility of the student to contact the AAMA office for reapplication.  Initial candidates for the CMA (AAMA) exam are allowed three exam attempts.
