Mutual Expectations

What you can expect from your instructor:

Email:

  • We will reply on the same day or within 24-48 hours to any student emails

Professionalism

  • We will conduct class and labs in a professional, respectful manner
  • We will treat each student fairly

Syllabus

  • We will provide a syllabus within the first week of the term
  • We will notify students of changes in the syllabus schedule
  • Syllabus is subject to change

Grade book

  • We will post most grades within 24-48 hours
  • We will post larger scale assignment grades within 3-4 days
  • We will provide comments or feedback when appropriate

Moodle platform

  • We will post at least weekly in Moodle Announcements

Mid-term progress report

  • We will produce a formal written progress report and review with each student at approximately mid-trimester
  • Mid-term progress reports may be conducted through individual Teams meetings

Teams meetings

  • We will hold Teams meetings that will provide important, essential information for success in the course
  • We will suggest or require individual Teams meetings as needed
  • We will respond and participate to any student-requested Teams meeting

  • Students will respond and answer all questions or requests from the instructor

Professionalism

  • Students will treat instructor and fellow students with kindness and respect
  • Students will follow dress code for lab (see complete dress code in this syllabus) 

Syllabus

  • Students will review syllabus and refer to syllabus with any policy questions (late assignments, attendance, grading, etc.)

Grade book

  • Students will check course grade book 1-2 times each week
  • Students will bring any grading or scoring concerns to attention of instructor
  • Students will review any comments and feedback from the instructor

Moodle platform

  • Students will read Moodle Announcements 1-2 times each week
  • Students will check the Moodle weekly module as updates are posted there

Lab / Lecture attendance (review complete policy in this syllabus)

  • Students will attend all lab / lecture meetings
    • It is not possible to make up missed lab attendance points
    • Students must make arrangements to skills missed in lab
  • Students will have a back-up plan for issues with car, children, job, etc.
  • If not attending on-campus class, students will notify instructor in advance of class meeting time

Group Teams meetings attendance

Choose one:

  • Option 1
    • Attend the meeting
    • No additional post-meeting assignment
  • Option 2
    • View the recorded meeting
    • When this option is chosen, there will be an additional required assignment to accompany the video recording
    • Assignment will be provided by the instructor

Individual Teams meetings

  • Can be initiated by either student or instructor
  • Individual Teams meetings may be required at the discretion of the instructor
  • Meetings can be used for additional one-on-one help, guidance, etc.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings
    • Show consideration and notify the instructor prior to meeting time if student is unable to attend
    • It is student’s responsibility to request a rescheduled individual Teams meeting

Missed assignments

  • It is solely the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor for information, details on any missed assignment

Please note that most assignments and quizzes have an accreditation core competency attached and must be made up in order to pass the course.
